Gujrat: Commissioner Gujranwala Division Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah has directed that in consultation with the members of parliament, priorities should be set with regard to development projects. Use the services of active social workers with the help of elected representatives to improve the sanitation situation in urban areas. To control inflation, supermarkets will be encouraged to adopt the Gujrat package of relief package in other districts as well. 


He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of members of the assembly and officers on the occasion of inspection of Saman to Dinga Bypass Road. RPO Gujranwala Riaz Nazir Gadra, Deputy Commissioner Saif Anwar Japa, DPO Umar Salamat, MPAs Chaudhary Saleem Sarwar Jora, Mian Akhtar Hayat, Chaudhary Muhammad Arshad, Chaudhary Shujaat Nawaz Ajnala, Zahoor Elahi House representative Qazi Saifullah Khalid MNA Syed Faizul Hassan’s representative Syed Habib Haider Shah, ADC Revenue Syed Nizarat Ali, ADC Finance Zaheer Liaquat, SP Muhammad Imran, Deputy Director Development Jahangir Butt, PSO Commissioner Nadeem Butt were also present. 


Deputy Commissioner Saif Anwar Japa briefed Commissioner Gujranwala about the physical and financial progress of ongoing development projects in Gujrat district while DPO Umar Salamat briefed about the law and order situation, the maps and their representatives presented their proposals including the establishment of roads, water supply, sanitation, educational institutions, hospitals, rescue 1122 stations in their areas. Commissioner Gujranwala Division Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah directed that Saman to Dinga Gujrat Bypass Road project is an important mega project for the development of the district. All the departments should fulfill their responsibilities for the timely completion of the project, similarly, the district administration should complete its homework regarding the development projects as per the suggestions of the public representatives. In the light of instructions from the government in this regard, they will be referred to the competent authority for approval and release of funds. He directed that the services of social workers in different areas should be availed in consultation with the public representatives who are willing to volunteer for the welfare of the society and their WhatsApp groups should be formed. He pointed out that it would help in improving the performance of local bodies in terms of solid waste management. Also, approval of the schedule of establishment as per new restrictions, request for return of nursing staff of Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Hospital who are on temporary duty in other hospitals will be requested from Punjab government. 


Commissioner Syed Gulzar Hussain Shah highly appreciated the performance of convenience markets in Gujrat and termed the relief package in association with the superstores association of the district administration as exemplary for other districts. Regional police officer Riaz Nazir Gadra expressed satisfaction over the performance of the police team for crime control in the district and MPs urged to use their influence to end hostilities and resolve land disputes. He appreciated the setting up of a committee comprising Assistant Commissioners and SDPOs to resolve land disputes in Gujrat and hoped that such disputes would be resolved amicably with the cooperation of MLAs. RPO Gujranwala directs district police to take immediate steps to activate reconciliation committees in all police stations.
